April 2006

Although I have painted and drawn from time to time since my childhood, career commitments have prevented me from giving full vent to my artistic longing. However during the mid 1990's I decided to let go and see what would happen. I was introduced to Jenny Grevatte who encouraged me to attend various art courses at Loughborough and the Richard Attenborough Centre in Leicester.

I have my own studio and paint most days. In 1998 I was awarded a place on a two year course for artists at the RA (Richard Attenborough Centre) In Leicester. The course included completing a commission by the University of Leicester to create semi permanent works of art for one of its main buildings. The course culminated in an exhibition which was shown in September 2000. My work is finding its way into various locations in Leicestershire and beyond.

Following the completion of the course in 2000, a group of artists including myself decided to keep in touch. The group exhibits collectively under the name of G8 artists.

I particularly enjoy working with oil and mixed media, I travel quite a lot and take photographs as source material for my work. However in recent years I have been drawn to the imagery I see looking out of the window of jet planes. My influence is nature's (recurring) patterns.

Previous exhibitions include the following as part of the G8 artists:

  • September 2000: "moving on" Richard Attenborough Centre Leicester.
  • March 2001: "moving on" Vaughan College Leicester.
  • January 2003: "down to earth" Vaughan College Leicester.
  • September 2004: "of the earth" Richard Attenborough Centre Leicester.
  • March 2005: "Upstares" City Gallery Leicester.
Solo Exhibition:
  • Oct -Dec 04: "Paintings and Aerial Photographs" HSBC Regional Head Office Leicester.
